In 2007-2010 Mitra Wacana WRC supported STOP AIDS NOW (SAN) to strengthen high school adolescents in the two districts, Bantul and Sleman. In the program, we promote sexual and reproductive health in several schools in the district which aims to and increase knowledge and awareness among youth in particular against HIV and AIDS.

Some of our activities include: HIV and AIDS workshop, fieldtrips looking at temples in Yogyakarta and surrounding areas, the wall magazine contest, HIV and AIDS prevention campaign through writing short stories, talk show on several radio stations, and create HIV and AIDS themed movies. We also facilitated the establishment of youth organization called Peduli Youth Forum (FoRemPed) which is intended as a forum to learn together in ensuring adolescents are healthy and responsible. One of the successes FoRemPed is undertaking voluntary counselling and testing (VCT), especially for members FoRemPed.

Until now Mitra Wacana WRC talk show activities are still carried out on several radio shows with a variety of themes in accordance with agency policy in an effort to campaign for gender equality and the prevention of sexual violence against women and children in Indonesia, especially Yogyakarta. In addition Mitra Wacana WRC also joined in several forums, including Yogyakarta Women’s Network, Women Against Corruption, Domestic Workers Network Care, Gender Working Group and other networks.
